Oh well, it was a hell of a ride. They made the playoffs for the first time in 26 years, lasted one game longer than the Cubs. Win.
Here is what they need to do this offseason (in order)
- Re-sign CC, no matter what. That guy could win 25 games on his own. Then you have Gallardo, Parra, Bush backing him up. That ain't bad.
- Get a real, experiened manager that has been involved with a winner. Not one of these backup gritty veterans that are in over their head.
- Bring Gamel up to play 3rd.
- Resign Durham, get rid of Weeks.
- Take offers for Fielder, hopefully to get pitching or a power right fielder.
- Either bring up Gwynn to play center, or move Hart to center and get a power right fielder.
- Don't re-sign Cameron (he is good, but not $10 million good).
- Show Gagne, Mota, and Sheets the door.
- Get a real closer and use Torres as a set-up guy.

Pitching isnt cheap. To think that a real starter and a real closer can be signed in the offseason is foolish. The fact is, they will no get Sabathia back. Come to terms with that and it gets much clearer. Gamel can play first while he gets his feet wet. Trade the Prince for a starter, and have the GM find a scrap heap pitcher like he always does. Saves are over rated anyway. It will be a couple years anyway until they are this good again.
Wow what a buzz kill dude. It's called wishful thinking.
I also don't think it is impossible to re-sign CC. Gagne made $10 mil, Sheets $12; thats $22 right there. Add $3 mil, abra-ca-dabra you have $25 mil
Its also over 20 home runs good. Which is good. The manager comment is right on. 3-5 games is a division, especially in the NL central. Gamel cant play defense. Weeks and the Prince make a sweet deal to a AL team. TG Jr. has reached his peak, as a 5th outfielder. Throw him in. Maybe they win 85 games. Mark it for one dollar.
