Random Rantings

SO, I'm just sitting around today watching the Fox Game of the week. It happens to be Dodgers and Cubs.

My first question is how the Dodgers any good this year, let alone have the best record. Orlando Hudson is hitting .370, but besides him everyone is around .270-.320. Their clean up hitter has 2 home runs and their home run leader has 5. I can't figure out how they have the best record. I guess it is just consistency all around the team, no one guy beats you.

The second thing that I noticed that was during the game they were promoting the Boys and Girls Club and some fundraising drive they are having. Cool, that's a good cause. Then after the little piece on The Boys and Girls Club, one of the announcers (I think Tim McCarver) said, "You know another great, safe place for kids to go..... Wrigley Field." WTF? Wrigley Field is the worst place for anyone, let alone kids. The roof is falling in, fans are drunk and obnoxious, there are fights, there is probable asbestos, and it is downtown Chicago. Horrible place.

On the sunny side of the street I found this clip:

Man I wish I were famous and could get away with that.

What's going on?

I'm sitting here trying to watch the Brewers game, and man do they look horrible. And by they I mean their offense. They are 0 for 14 with men in scoring position in this series. If they are even 50% they have won one if not two of these games. In tonights game Manny Parra is the only one doing anything at the plate with a double and a triple, and now he is out of the game. In multiple innings they had a lead off double or triple and yet still they got nothing. They need to right this train quickly to salvage anything. After today's game they might once again be tied with the Cardinals for 2nd place and the Wild Card, and after tomorrow they could be worse than the Cardinals. With the Mets, Phillies, and Marlins all playing well (plus rumors that the Marlins are interested in Manny Ramirez) the Wild Card might not come from the Central anymore like it has been assumed. The Brewers might have to win the division to get into the playoffs because the loser of the Mets, Phillies, and Marlins might get the Wild Card.

Yes I know the Cubs are good, but they are not that good that they should be sticking it to us like this so badly. No excuse.

The next 7 games are going to be clutch for this team.

One

One is the only number, especially when you are the Cubs and only a week ago you had a six game lead, and now it is down to one game. The Brewers are doing everything they need to do, often relying on a little bit of luck (last night) and the Cubs can't score any runs to save their lives.

Getting the first 2 from the Cardinals is huge, and now we got Sheets and Sabathia pitching, let's take the next 2 and get into first place.

This is the most exciting time it has been to watch the Brewers since 1982, and I was only 2 years old, so the only thing I remember about those games is my dad yelling at the TV.

The Brewers need to keep riding this hot streak and finish strong against the Cubs next week. I'm hoping the return of Soriano doesn't provide a spark for the Cubs.

Editor's note: I find it funny that 2 months ago everyone in this town (especially Sports Writers) were asking to get rid of Hall because Branyan was their new savior. Now Hall has won 2 games in a row for us, and Yost hinted that the platoon at 3rd may be over. I have always been a Hall fan, and I knew the Branyan train would turn back into his old ways of strikeout king.

Too bad too sad...

The Cubs were just eliminated from the playoffs tonight by the Arizona Diamondbacks. All that work and all that money spent, and three games later, back to your miserable lives. 3 games and they didn't even look good in any of the games, pretty pathetic.

It all goes back to my original theory; God hates the Cubs.
