Crisis Averted? Maybe

Most of you probably didn't even notice, but the long awaited digital tv conversion took place on Friday. Most of you didn't notice, because you would have to be a complete and utter idiot to not have been prepared for it. They postponed it, there are multiple commercials a day about it, the President spoke about it, their have been articles and full page ads in the newspaper, there are coupons available to get a converter easily, if you have cable it doesn't affect you, if you bought a tv in the last 2 years it doesn't affect you, and there have been tests on the local news to see if you are ready for the switch.

Despite all this there are many people who freaked out about it and are worried of a coming armegedon or even a government conspiracy at work. Here is a good blog that looks at the idiocy of the conversion problems on Friday.

I'm Open

I got this picture e-mailed me and I thought it was humorous. Even more humorous because in was from a New York newspaper about a week ago. Don't forget the Jets probably hemoraged their future quiet a bit by getting Favre. They had to trade away their starting QB in Pennington who was Comeback Player of the Year in leading the Dolphins to the division title. THey also lost a young and promising coach in Mangini.

Favre really does need to hang it up now. I am not like some bloggers out there who think he should have retired years ago. Remember he did lead the Packers within an overtime of the Super Bowl in a year they greatly out-performed themselves. (I still blame my wife for the loss). He shouldn't have come back this year, and we saw why. He started out magical, like the Favre of old, but was absolutely horrible in the second half of the year.

Also, they did officially move back the date of the digital TV switch. DOesn't congress have something more important to work on passing? The new president inherited a country in s**t and a world in a state of f**king s**t. Come On.

Random Rantings

A few things I have noticed in the last few days that made me angry (the last one is just bad-ass)

• I have ranted in the past about this switch to digital tv from analog tv. First off, it is not difficult. If you do not have cable or satellite service that you pay for, you need to get a converter; I have no idea why so many people are confused. Second, why doesn't the government just give away the converters because so many people are complaining that they cannot afford a $50 converter. Now the government has passed a bill that the switch will not take place until June. This is just getting sad. I think they should just scrap the whole thing at this point. The affect of the switch is very minimal (if any positive effects) but the money and time cost is way high. P.S. why is the government wasting time on passing a bill about this when we are fighting a war, the economy is in the s**t, we just switched presidents, etc?
• Somehow Paul Blart was the #1 movie in America. If you saw this movie, go kill yourself because clearly there is no way you could ever positively contribute to society. There are plenty of better movies out there now during "Award Season," or even better yet stay home and read a book or contribute to society.
• This story here is just bad ass. I once survived on whiskey for two days, but I wasn't really trapped under my sofa.
