That's offensive

For those of you who do not regularly watch Colbert Nation, you missed a funny segment about how some people are offended by the smallest things. Canada has a magazine that was called "Beaver" but because some were offended by that name they decided to change it: (right after the waterboarding piece)

The funny thing is that Stephen Colbert wants people to make the term "Canada's history" as offensive as possible.

If you haven't already gone to Urban Dictionary to see it, check it out here. It's pretty hilarious and offensive. Number 3 is my favorite.

Also, Daily Show had a piece about the congressman with the name of Dick Sweat. Those jokes write themselves.

Those crazy asians

By now we all know all about Tiger Woods, and his "incident" with his wife. (I'm still not sure why anyone would cheat on this). What you might not know about this story is that Japanese television did a news piece on it:

I can't understand a word they say, but the reenactment is awesome.

Bonus Video: If you didn't see the Colbert Report with Elvis Costello, check out the clip below. It's a regular interview, but cut to the 4:30, Stephen covers a Elvis Costello job and it is very well done. Great moment in television.

Check this out

Some of you may have seen these guys on COlbert Report the other day, but in case you didn't, check this out. They have a really cool sound, even if you can't understand a word they are saying. Doesn't matter.

They are so new and unknown, check out there Wikipedia page, which was first started this week. I'm not sure if their album is even available over here. I'm not sure how Colbert found these guys, but he is taking an active effort in giving them the Colbert Bump.

C.R.E.A.M.

For those of you left walking to work or now having to pay for each carry-on piece of luggage, rest easy to know that gasoline companies are still making money hand over fist. Exxon had their largest profit ever last quarter. WTF? We have homeless all over the country and millions living below the poverty line, but this company made $11.68 billion dollars PROFIT in 3 months. That makes me sick. They made a profit of $1,485.55 a second. Come on. I know profit motive is what makes the economy go around, and yes I do love freedom, but is this much profit necessary at the cost of so many.

Here is a clip from a documentary called "The Corporation" that takes a very interesting and negative look at corporations in America.

To lighten the mood here is a clip of Stephen Colbert playing along side Crosby, Stills, and Nash from his show last night.

Celebrities speak up

For those of you who missed Wednesday night's Colbert Report (busy crying) there was an interesting piece of the joke of a news network, Fox News.

Fox News Racist? Here's another college of clips:

I am not a fan of Fox News, I may not hate them as much as this guy, but none the less, it is a joke of a network. I agree with what point Nas and Color of Change is trying to do. However, I am not a fan of celebrities that try to extend their reach to social and political issues, especially ones outside their reach. If Nas really wants to fight this battle, he has to watch his every move and understand that everything he does, especially anything that has to do with race, will be under the microscope and open to the public to analyze. So he does need to address his past growing up in Brooklyn and he does need to defend his lyrics. I do understand that his lyrics are just that, lyrics, and not all of his lyrics are vulgar. I also think he is being a hypocrite by saying that Fox News is racist (which they are) and then he goes around and wants to name his new album the N-word . You can't have it both ways if you really want to fight this battle.

Also did they actually think just bringing all these signatures to Fox News would change them. The next day they would just apologize and change everything that they stand for. Come on. Their hatred runs deeper than that.

Nas ended the show with this performance of a new song bashing Fox News. It's lyrics are actually pretty good and make a good point against Fox News.

Update: For some reason Comedy Central took down the Interview with Nas and his performance of the song off. Interesting....
Here is the song on Youtube:

Lame Duck

"President" Bush has officially given up what people think about what he says. At last week's G-8 Summit in Japan about the state of the environment, Bush made fun of the fact that America is horrible to the environment. The sad thing is that we are the world's worst polluters. Here is Stephen Colbert doing a humorous take on the how Bush will approach his last 180 days in office.

Well put

Like always Tuesday's edition of the Colbert Report had a great balance of comedy and insight during the interview. Stephen interviewed George Will on the state of politics and the role it plays.

The line of the night was Political Parties "help us organize our animosities."
I find blogging is also a great way to organize your animosities.

Skeletons in the Closet

You may have seen this video of Bill O-Reilly flipping out at the cue card guy back when he worked at Inside Edition:

I don't know what's funnier; an anchorman flipping out at a cue card guy or that the almighty Bill O-Reilly started on the sham of a news show, Inside Edition. I can never take him seriously again as a news anchor after knowing he was on Inside Edition (not that I ever took him seriously.

As always Stephen Colbert handled this situation perfectly:

Match Made in Heaven

Who wants to go out drinking?

This once again proves my theory that people from the South are idiots. I love the bar owner Steve SMith who says "drinking, rednecks, and bars do not mix." And then he goes on to say that if this law passes he is going to go open a funeral home. At least someone down there has a brain in their head.

Duets....

On MOnday night Stephen Colbert had John Legend on his show to just talk as his guest. They compared awards; Legend has 5 Grammys and Colbert has 2 Peabodys and 4 Emmy's. Legend ended up winning because he was Prom King. Then they talked politics., even though Legend based his views on nothing. Legend backed Obama because he is the candidate that will really represent America, Colbert said Obama was the best candidate because he too has a Grammy. Yada Yada Yada. Then right before the show ended they did a little duet that was pretty cool.

With all these artists collaborating nowadays and make all these duet albums, I think they next logical album would be Stephen Colbert singing all the "I love America" songs as duets with various artists. Colbert and Fred Durst singing God Bless America or Colbert and John Mayer singing Blame Canada, could bring the house down.

Also, here's an interesting read on the 'Colbert Bump.'

Insomniac TV

There is very little reason to turn your TV on late at night, but there are still 3 reasons: Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Conan O'Brien. These three are funny on a day to day basis. (I am not sure if Conan is the best replacement for Leno, Stewart might even make a better choice, but who could replace him on The Daily Show.) Over the last month or so due to the writer's strike they have been feeding off each other for comedy material.

Here's a quick summary: Before the strike Mike Huckabee was on the Colbert Report and then next week his numbers in the polls got a huge bump. Colbert attributed it to the "Colbert Bump." Huckabee even said he would give his Vice President ticket to Colbert. Then in January Huckabee was on Conan and after that Conan has taken all the credit for Huckabee's success. Colbert took offense to this and has since started attacking Conan and taking credit for Huckabee.

Here is a video summary:

Then on last Thursday all 3 of them appeared on each other's show to settle this all once and for all, and what ensued was one of the funnier things I have seen on late night TV in a long while.

First on the Daily Show:

Then on Conan:

Nobody puts baby in a corner unless you have taped knifes in their hands. Holy cow is Jon Stewart short next to Conan, he looks like a kid.
