Some rants:
- We were told to dress casually, nothing fancy. About 75% of these a@@-holes were wearing suit and ties, I wore shorts and a collared shirt.
- There served food which was hot dogs and hamburgers and grilled potato wedges. However they did not really provide any seating. Under the tent with the food were about 50-60 tables, all reserved for the most spoiled and uppidity alumni there. The rest of us credence had to find some place to eat, which pretty much meant standing against the building and eating. There were another like 10 tables inside the Discovery World which was hardly enough for 4,000 people to eat at.
- If I haven't talked to you since high school, there is probably a reason for that. The number of people who went up to their former classmates from 10-20 years ago and would ask the most unoriginal question of "what have you been up to?" "Well I've made some new friends and moved on in my life, and thats why I haven't been keeping in touch with you."
- The Discovery World is really quite unimpressive. Its normally $17.50 for adults and $12 for kids ($9 some reason for college students) We walked through the thing, interacting with 90% of it, and were done with the whole thing in 45 minutes. I would be upset even paying $7 for that. Most of the exhibits were quite lame and not very interactive and not very educational. The best part was an aquarium that was cool but not very big, about half the size of a typical Walgreens.
- When you go some where in which you are receiving a free drink, you should still tip. With this "deal" we all got two tickets for a free drink. I watched and the majority of people would order a drink use their ticket and not tip. These people are helping get you drunk and you do not have to pay for it (in money at least) you can at least give them some money for helping the cause.
- I guess its the thing to do when you hang out with people from the past in your life to talk about things entirely revolving around money and how successful your kids are. Almost every conversation I over heard was about new positions at work people had gotten, a new car the bought, how much their house was worth, or what east-coast-liberal-ivy league college their kids were accepted too. No one asks if they are happy at work, do they love their wife, do they make a difference in the world, or what they think about the Genocide over in Africa.
