You say you like movies

Edgrimley recently had a post about his favorite movies. I can't argue with his picks, they're good picks, just not my picks. I also can't believe that Rushmore just cracked the top 5 this week. What was there before? Waterworld?

I decided to go to IMDb to see what their users rater as their favorite movies. They're not bad, but most of them are obvious picks, nothing daring or bold. And I'm sorry but Pulp Fiction is not better than Shawshank Redemption.

I currently have probably about 20 movies on loan to various people. But looking through my current collection, here is my top 10. 10 because I am better than edgrimley at everything.

  1. Rushmore- Funniest movie I have ever seen. Anyone who doesn't get the comedy is an idiot and should be punched in the face.
  2. Lost in Translation- If you don't see a beauty in this movie, and cry at the end, you have no soul. Or edgrimley has taken it from you already. Also, Bill Muhray is quietly hilarious. When he is at the shoot and can't understand the director, hilarious. Or when that "lady of the night" comes over; good stuff.
  3. Shawshank Redemption- First movie I ever went to growing up that shook me to my core and made me cry when leaving. Still sends shivers down my back.
  4. Star Wars- Come on.
  5. Blood Diamond- Best movie of 2006, wasn't even nominated. Has action, unbelievable acting, great story, and great character development. And it makes you think about the world and how screwed we are.
  6. Batman Begins- Best Comic Book action movie I have ever seen. Christian Bale is the best Batman yet. Can't wait for the whole trilogy.
  7. Big Lebowski- Hilarious movie, probably don't go one week in college without watching this while loaded drinking Caucasians.
  8. Hotel Rhwanda- Don Cheadle is the most under-rated actor out there right now. Every movie he makes is important to see. HE is amazing in this and this is a great movie. Really makes you think about things and makes you want to get involved. (The book is even better)
  9. Good Will Hunting- I actually like Matt Damon even to this day, Ben Affleck is a walking joke though. Great movie, very well written and acted. "Do you like apples?" Great line. Can't wait for the sequel.
  10. American History X- Unbelievable acting by Edward Norton. Saw it with a group from my Freshman floor in college. No one said a word the whole car ride home. Two people actually just walked home.

If I remember correctly two people walked home because they were sickened when you removed your pants in the theater. The car ride home became silent right around the time you refused to put them back on. But whatever I'm sure the movie was the real reason no one talked...

Sorry, but you should feel shame for having a movie with Robin Williams on your list.
