This is not a sports story.

Now here is a sports story. I am a little skeptical of the trade, everyone I have heard from says LaPorta is our best minor leaguer and was either going to be Fielder's replacement or left field once Hart moves to center next year. I am not a fan of trading for someone who will get 12 starts the rest of the season and then walk away and be signed by the Yankees or Mets. But after watching various sports debate shows I am a little more of a fan of it all.

The positives: its managements way of saying to the players and the fans that they want to win and are willing to spend money to win. Now there is more pressure on management to sign the likes of Hardy, Hart, and Fielder this off season because there is less talent in the minors. The Brewers will get 2 picks at the end of the 1st round when Sabathia walks (and 2 for Sheets). I guess Sabathia is a powerful dug house guy and can be a positive influence on the young pitchers. Sabathia can challenge Fielder in an eating contest. And finally, the Brewers do have a shot at this; they are tied for the Wild Card and 3 1/2 back from the division.

Now here is NOT a sports story. Who cares about A-rod divorcing his wife. All over the Internets are stories of A-rod going with Madonna and his wife going with Lenny Kravitz. Then reports of them getting divorced, and now reports of Madonna getting a divorce, then she isn't, then she is. Who cares. In now way is this a sports story and should not be on ESPN.

This story is also NOT a sports story. Any one who watched Sports Center on Sunday saw them replaying over and over again about the Bradley student who was killed when a fireworks prank went bad and how they rallied and won some soccer games in honor of him. How is this a sports story? Its a tragic story of real life consequences of some students acting stupid. Its just as tragic if the kid was not on the soccer team or if they hadn't won a bunch of games in honor of him. Why is it that sports center is making the world care about such a story because it does involve sports, shouldn't we care about stories like this even if he hadn't played sports? Maybe we should get homeless people to start playing sports then people will start caring about the homeless and unemployment rate in this country.
